Michael J. Downing.
Born in County Cork, Ireland probably in the 1870's.
He immigrated to Boston, MA with his brother John J. Downing (Kathy's grandfather). He went into the US Marine Corp. and
as a Private was stationed aboard the USS Maine when it was destroyed in an explosion in Havanna, Cuba on 15 Feb. 1898. He
was one of the casualties.
